well kept secret

While donating blood last week, I met a young man who revealed to me one of San Francisco's best kept secrets,  Pier 24. Pier 24 is  home to the permanent Pilara collection which houses over 2,000 photographs of the 20th and 21st century. At 28,000 square feet, it is one of the largest spaces dedicated to contemporary photography in the country. Open by appointment only and free of charge, Pier 24 aims to be a space that invites a unique and intimate viewing environment open for critical thought and engagement.

chunky knits

Yokoo's scarves and knits are amazing! As a beginner knitter who has been working on the same hooded scarf for the last two months, I am in awe of this girl's skills. Check out her etsy page: Yokoo

portland

This labor day weekend was spent driving seemingly endless hours from San Francisco to Oregon. As a first time visitor to the beautiful town of Portland, I was amazed by how well designed everything is; their coffee shops, galleries and boutiques all seem to embrace reclaimed materials. It is a city that prides itself on its bean scene, local homegrown businesses, and uniquely decorated food carts, all which promote a more-conscious lifestyle. Needless to say, it could easily be a sister to my beloved san francisco, and I can't wait to go back.

[sessun]

Even though their Hiver 2010 collection is already up, i'm still dreaming of Sessun's Spring collection. French designer, Emma Francois, started the brand after an inspirational trip to Latin America, leading her to create a unique aesthetic that combines latin american accents with a parisian sense of style.
....i wish you could buy these in the states!

[ jewels ]

The line Lizzie Fortunato Jewels makes me dream about becoming a jewelry designer.  Each collection derives from a particular point of inspiration, such as  voyages to India, or the nostalgia of summer camp days. I especially love their impeccable craftsmanship,  and how every piece tastefully contrasts fabric or string against gold and metals.
